Kingdom of Righteousness 4 Ever

Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
Luke 9:23

A woman says her wealthy boyfriend is insisting she pay rent, even though he owns the home they live in — and she can’t help but wonder what to make of it.

On the British forum site Mumsnet, the woman explained how she had just moved in with her boyfriend of three years. He owns the two-bedroom house outright, thanks to a family trust, and already has the second bedroom leased to a friend for about $900 per month.

Now, he wishes her to shell out about $450 per month, plus divide all bills and repair expenses equally — despite not having a mortgage.

He says she’s still receiving a fair deal relative to market rent and that her share could fund such things as his master’s degree, which they will both enjoy in the long run.

Nevertheless, she is not sure about the arrangement. She mentioned he has not made room for her things, she does most of the cleaning, and she fears the arrangement might breed resentment. “I don’t know what his motives are, as he doesn’t need the money,” she wrote.

Commenters were split — some condemned the boyfriend for benefiting from his girlfriend, while others argued paying for household expenses is reasonable, but it should have been discussed beforehand.
