The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. – Proverbs 18:10 (NIV)
Many people search for security in money, status, relationships, or personal strength, yet all those things can fail.
Proverbs 18:10 reminds us that true protection is not found in earthly systems but in the name and presence of the Lord. His name represents His power, faithfulness, authority, and character.
When fear rises and uncertainty surrounds you, God invites you to run toward Him instead of away from Him. David understood this deeply when he declared that God was his refuge and fortress in times of trouble (Psalm 91:2).
The righteous are not promised a life without battles, but they are promised divine safety in the middle of them. No matter what pressure comes against you, God remains your strong tower – unshaken, unmovable, and always near.
Favour was overwhelmed after receiving difficult news about her family’s finances. Fear consumed her thoughts, and she struggled to sleep at night.
One morning during prayer, she read Proverbs 18:10 and kept repeating the words, “The righteous run to it and are safe.” Instead of allowing fear to dominate her mind, she began praying every time anxiety appeared.
Over the following weeks, unexpected support came from places she never imagined. Like Jehoshaphat who turned to God when enemies surrounded Judah (2 Chronicles 20:3–4), Favour learned that safety begins with running to God first, not panic.
Father, thank You for being my refuge and strong tower. When fear tries to overwhelm me, help me to run to You instead of depending on my own strength. Cover me with Your peace and remind me that I am safe in Your hands. Strengthen my faith and help me trust Your protection over every area of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you have not given your life to Christ, pray the prayer below sincerely from your Heart
