Eligibility Criteria into UTRIP

To be eligible for UTRIP 2025, applicants must:

Be enrolled in a bachelor’s, integrated bachelor’s-master’s, or master’s program at a university outside Japan.
Study natural sciences or related disciplines.
Have a demonstrated commitment to pursuing long-term career goals in science.
Be prepared to participate for the full duration of the program.

Program Requirements

Selected participants are expected to:

Must have access to a reliable internet connection for online research and discussions
Must actively participate in the assigned research project for the duration of the program
Must attend all educational sessions as scheduled
Must submit a written comprehensive research report by the due date
Must present orally on their research findings at the end of the program

Application Requirements

A complete application consists of the following documents:

Name and university
Year of admission
Completed courses with grades and credits
Grading system-if not in English, an additional document is necessary.

Personal Statement: Please submit a 700-1000-word essay covering points below:

Your motive for applying to the selected research, your goal.
Your background that would be relevant for the project.

English Proficiency:

Though not required, applicants for whom English is not the first language are encouraged to submit TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent test scores. Expired scores are acceptable.
