The question on everyone’s lips today is, “Are we living in the end times?”
From wars and plagues to rising moral decay and freak weather, even atheists are wondering if something is wrong.
What Does the Bible Say About the End Times?
Jesus taught explicitly about the end times in Matthew 24. His disciples asked Him the same question:
“Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” (Matthew 24:3, ESV)
Jesus provided a list of signs in detail:
- False messiahs and prophets (Matthew 24:5)
- Wars and rumors of war (Matthew 24:6)
- Famines, earthquakes, and pestilences (Matthew 24:7)
- Increase of wickedness and loss of love (Matthew 24:12)
- The Gospel spread to all nations (Matthew 24:14)
Ring a bell? Most of these things are already happening right before our own eyes
Signs of the Times of Our World Today
Let’s examine what’s happening around the globe:
- Wars and Conflicts: From Ukraine to the Middle East and portions of Africa, the world is seeing increasing political turmoil.
- Natural Disasters: Earthquakes, floods, and heat-waves are increasing in frequency and intensity.
- Moral Collapse: That which was shameful is now celebrated. Good is being called evil, and evil good (Isaiah 5:20).
- Spiritual Confusion: Deception, false prophecy, and New Age doctrine are growing even within the churches.
- Global Evangelism: The Good part is the Gospel is being promoted through technology, missions, and social media at record speed.
These are not happenstances. They are early indicators of a coming climax (Matthew 24:8)
⏳ So… How Much Time Do We Have?
Truth is: no one knows for certain
Jesus Himself instructed in Matthew 24:36:
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.”
Which is to say, we should not listen to those who claim to know the exact year or date when Jesus will return. But we can determine the season. And most are convinced we are closer than ever.
⛪ What Should We Be Doing Now?
Instead of fear, this reality should impel us to action. Here’s what Jesus calls us to do:
1.Stay Watchful and Prayerful
“Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.” (Matthew 24:42)
2. Live Holy and Pure Lives
“Since everything will be destroyed… what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives.” (2 Peter 3:11)
3. Preach the Gospel
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached… and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)
4. Encourage One Another
“Encourage one another and build each other up…” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
Final Thoughts
Yes, we’re most likely living in the latter days. But it is not a time to be fearful – it’s a time to get ready. The real question isn’t “How long do we have?” but one of “Are you ready?”
Jesus is coming – sooner than we know it. Let’s live with a sense of urgency, in purity, and in faith.
