Serena Williams and former US President Donald Trump have weighed in on Taylor Swift getting booed at the Super Bowl on Sunday.

During the game in New Orleans, Swift appeared on the jumbotron at the Caesars Superdome. She received mixed reactions from fans, with several cheering and a few booing her. Swift playfully replied with a side-eye and puzzlement before looking over at rapper friend Ice Spice and seemingly asking, “What’s going on?”

Swift’s friend, tennis superstar Serena Williams—who made a surprise dancing appearance during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance—came to her defense quickly.

“I love you @taylorswift13 don’t listen to those booo(s)!!” Williams wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

But Trump pounced on the moment to poke fun at Swift. He posted side-by-side videos on his Truth Social platform that contrasted how the crowd treated him versus Swift, implying he was cheered and she was booed.

“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!” Trump wrote.

While Trump seemed to suggest his fans were the ones who were behind the boos—possibly because Swift endorsed his political rival, Kamala Harris—many think the reaction was from Philadelphia Eagles fans, who apparently did not like Swift for dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

After the Chiefs’ crushing 40-22 defeat, Kelce said in a locker room interview that the team had struggled all night.

“You don’t lose like that without everything going bad,” he said. “(We) just couldn’t find that spark, we couldn’t find that momentum.”

Despite the mixed reception at the game, Swift continues to make headlines – whether for her relationship, her music, or the political narratives surrounding her.
