About the Role

garden3d is looking for a Brand Designer with a strong visual perspective and the ability to transform ideas, strategies, and stories into distinctive brand identities.

You’ll work across a wide range of creative projects, helping develop visual systems that are thoughtful, memorable, and flexible enough to work across digital and physical environments.

The position combines conceptual thinking with hands-on design execution. You’ll collaborate with designers, strategists, developers, writers, and clients to take projects from early exploration through final production.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop distinctive brand identities and visual systems for clients and internal garden3d initiatives.
  • Explore creative directions through research, moodboards, sketches, typography, imagery, and visual experimentation.
  • Design logos, typography systems, color palettes, graphic languages, and other core brand elements.
  • Translate brand strategy and positioning into compelling visual concepts.
  • Create comprehensive brand guidelines that ensure consistency across different applications.
  • Extend identities across websites, social media, presentations, campaigns, print, packaging, environmental graphics, and other touchpoints.
  • Develop polished presentations and design concepts for internal reviews and client presentations.
  • Collaborate closely with strategists, writers, developers, and other designers throughout the creative process.
  • Participate in critiques and contribute thoughtful feedback that strengthens the team’s work.
  • Present and explain design decisions clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain exceptional attention to typography, composition, hierarchy, imagery, and visual detail.
  • Prepare production-ready assets and ensure designs translate successfully across different formats.
  • Help evolve garden3d’s own visual language and contribute to the broader creative culture of the collective.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Strong professional experience in brand identity, graphic design, or visual communication.
  • An outstanding portfolio demonstrating thoughtful and original branding work.
  • Excellent understanding of typography, layout, color, composition, and visual systems.
  • Strong proficiency with contemporary design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to develop ideas from early concepts through polished final execution.
  • Experience designing identities that work across both digital and physical applications.
  • Strong conceptual and visual problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high standard for finished work.
  • Ability to communicate the reasoning behind creative decisions.
  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining design quality.
  • Comfortable working independently in a distributed, remote environment.

What Makes Someone a Strong Fit

garden3d values designers who are curious, thoughtful, collaborative, and willing to explore unconventional creative directions.

You should care about more than simply making something attractive. Strong candidates understand how strategy, storytelling, typography, culture, technology, and visual design come together to create meaningful brands.

You should also be comfortable receiving feedback, challenging ideas constructively, and continuously refining your work until it reaches a high creative standard.

Working at garden3d

garden3d operates differently from a traditional creative agency. The organization emphasizes autonomy, transparency, shared responsibility, and worker ownership.

Teams collaborate asynchronously where possible, allowing people to protect focused creative time while working effectively across locations and time zones.

The collective also invests time and resources into developing its own products, open-source projects, community initiatives, and experimental ideas.
