Cat Sitter
The Comforted Kitty is seeking dependable and caring cat lovers to provide professional in-home cat-sitting services for clients across the Manhattan and New York City metro area.
This is a flexible, part-time independent contractor opportunity that allows sitters to choose their availability and preferred service areas.
Successful applicants will be matched with clients who need reliable care for their cats while they are traveling or away from home.
The position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working independently, genuinely enjoy caring for cats, and want flexible work that helps pet owners feel confident that their pets are safe and properly cared for.
Job Responsibilities
As a Cat Sitter, you will visit clients’ homes and provide care based on the individual needs and personality of each cat. Responsibilities may include:
- Feeding cats and providing fresh drinking water.
- Cleaning and maintaining litter boxes.
- Providing playtime, affection, companionship, and enrichment.
- Sending photos and visit updates to pet owners through the company’s app.
- Carefully following each client’s feeding and care instructions.
- Collecting mail and packages when requested.
- Adjusting lights, blinds, trash, or recycling as required.
- Administering medication when it falls within your experience and comfort level.
Since many assignments occur while clients are traveling, applicants with morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, and holiday availability may have access to more opportunities.
Available Service Types
Cat sitters may provide different types of care depending on client requirements, including:
- Drop-in visits: 30, 45, or 60 minutes, usually one to three times per day.
- Extended daytime visits: Approximately 2–8 hours.
- Overnight care: Approximately 10-hour stays.
- 24-hour care: Live-in pet sitting that includes overnight care.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have previous experience caring for cats, preferably through pet sitting or a similar arrangement.
Applicants should be reliable, punctual, responsible, and attentive to details. Strong written communication skills are important because sitters will regularly provide clients with updates about their pets.
Candidates should also:
- Be comfortable working independently inside clients’ homes.
- Own a smartphone with reliable internet access and a functioning camera.
- Be comfortable following detailed pet-care instructions.
- Have experience administering oral medications, injections, or fluids where applicable.
- Have good weekend and holiday availability.
- Demonstrate patience and genuine care when handling cats with different personalities and needs.
Pay and Benefits
Cat sitters are paid per visit, with compensation typically starting at approximately $25 per 30-minute visit.
Higher earnings may be available for longer visits, overnight assignments, and house-sitting services.
Additional benefits include:
- Weekly payments through direct deposit.
- Opportunities to earn bonuses for holidays, short-notice assignments, and strong client feedback.
- 100% of tips received are paid to the sitter.
Sitters can determine their availability and preferred service area, after which The Comforted Kitty will match them with suitable clients.

Interested candidates should complete The Comforted Kitty’s quick, mobile-friendly online application.
Applicants should submit an application for one location only.
Phone applications or inquiries are not accepted. The company will contact candidates whose experience and availability match its current needs.
