About the Role
Tailscale is hiring a Technical Growth Content Specialist to create educational and technically accurate content that helps enterprise buyers and technical professionals discover, understand, evaluate, and adopt Tailscale.
This position combines elements of technical writing, growth content marketing, developer education, SEO, AI search optimization, and product storytelling.
Working closely with the AI & Organic Search Manager, you will transform customer questions, product releases, search trends, community conversations, and industry developments into valuable technical resources.
Content will be developed for both traditional search engines and emerging AI-powered discovery platforms, including ChatGPT, Gemini, and AI Overviews, as well as social and developer communities where technical audiences discover new products.
Success in this position is based on the quality, usefulness, discoverability, and measurable business impact of the content produced rather than simply publishing a high volume of articles.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Content Creation
Develop practical, educational content that helps technical and enterprise audiences understand and successfully use Tailscale.
Content may include:
- Technical tutorials.
- Implementation guides.
- Product comparisons.
- Educational articles.
- Demonstrations.
- Technical resources.
- Product-focused content.
- Search-driven educational pages.
You’ll gain hands-on experience with the Tailscale product so that your content reflects genuine technical understanding rather than surface-level research.
Growth-Focused Content
Turn search data, customer questions, product developments, and community conversations into content capable of generating measurable business growth.
The position carries responsibility for specific performance metrics, including areas such as product adoption and self-service revenue.
You’ll continuously evaluate which topics and formats generate meaningful results and use those insights to guide future content decisions.
Community & Trend Monitoring
Follow relevant conversations taking place across technical communities and social platforms, including Reddit, Hacker News, and X/Twitter.
Identify emerging questions, problems, discussions, and trends that could become valuable content opportunities.
Some topics may require rapid execution, with content developed during the same week or even the same day when appropriate.
Search & AI Discoverability
Collaborate closely with the AI & Organic Search Manager to identify opportunities for improving Tailscale’s visibility across traditional and AI-powered search experiences.
Apply SEO and modern AI-discoverability practices when developing and optimizing content.
You’ll help create resources that can perform across conventional search engines as well as AI-driven platforms and answer engines.
AI-Assisted Content Development
Help develop an AI-first content workflow that uses Artificial Intelligence to improve research, ideation, drafting, optimization, and content-production efficiency.
The goal is not simply to generate more content, but to use AI strategically to produce better technical resources more efficiently while maintaining high editorial and technical standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with teams across:

Content Optimization
Regularly review existing content and identify opportunities to improve its accuracy, usefulness, search visibility, and business performance.
Use performance data and customer feedback to refresh, expand, consolidate, or optimize existing resources.
Requirements
Tailscale is looking for candidates with approximately 3–6+ years of relevant professional experience in areas such as:
