The Cigna Group is seeking an experienced Part-Time Inpatient Telepharmacy Staff Pharmacist to provide remote pharmacy services to multiple hospital clients across several U.S. states. This work-from-home position supports hospital clinical teams by reviewing and verifying medication orders, providing clinical pharmacy guidance, and helping ensure medications are used safely, accurately, and in accordance with applicable regulations. The position primarily covers evening, overnight, weekend, and on-call shifts. Pharmacists are expected to work approximately one to two shifts every two weeks, with available schedules discussed during the interview process. Key Responsibilities Telepharmacy Services You will provide remote pharmacy support to multiple hospital clients and work across different pharmacy information systems. Responsibilities include: – Perform remote medication order entry and verification. – Verify medications and prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness. – Provide medication-related counseling to patients and healthcare professionals. – Work across multiple hospital pharmacy information systems and client environments. – Support hospital pharmacy operations remotely while maintaining high standards of accuracy and patient safety. Clinical Pharmacy Support Provide proactive clinical pharmacy services while following both client-specific procedures and The Cigna Group’s internal policies. Your clinical responsibilities may include: – Provide medication and therapeutic recommendations to healthcare professionals. – Review appropriate medication dosages and recommend adjustments when necessary. – Identify potential drug interactions and compatibility concerns. – Provide guidance regarding medication administration and infusion requirements. – Maintain knowledge of IV fluids, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), narcotic and cardiac infusions, IV antibiotics, chemotherapy, and other hospital medications. – Consider the unique medication requirements of pediatric and geriatric patients, pregnant or nursing patients, and individuals with renal or hepatic impairment or HIV. – Counsel patients, nurses, physicians, and other medical professionals regarding safe and appropriate medication use. – Investigate medication discrepancies and work toward resolving identified issues within established timeframes. Operational Responsibilities Because the position supports several hospital clients, pharmacists must be comfortable adapting to different technologies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include: – Learn and operate multiple hospital pharmacy systems. – Obtain and maintain pharmacist licenses required for supported states. – Document medication orders, clinical interventions, and recommendations before completing each shift. – Follow applicable federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations. – Maintain compliance with client-specific requirements and internal policies. – Ensure clinical documentation remains accurate and complete. Technology & Remote Work The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently in a technology-driven remote environment. You may be required to: – Perform basic troubleshooting when connectivity or system problems occur. – Work with VPN connections and pharmacy information systems. – Use pharmacy automation and related hospital technologies. – Work with common productivity applications, including Microsoft Office and similar software. Training may cover: – Clinical pharmacy updates. – Pharmacy information system improvements. – Client procedures. – Internal policy changes. – Regulatory requirements. – New technologies and workflows. Employees must also maintain all required licenses, system credentials, and applicable reciprocity requirements. Productivity & Quality The pharmacist will be expected to maintain established productivity and quality standards while ensuring patient safety remains the primary consideration. The position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to efficiently manage medication reviews across multiple hospital environments. Required Qualifications Candidates should have: – Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.S. Pharmacy) or equivalent required qualification. – An active pharmacist license in good standing in Pennsylvania and/or Ohio. – Strong written and verbal communication abilities. – Excellent customer-service and interpersonal skills. – Knowledge of formulary management and Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) procedures. – Familiarity with client/server applications. – Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, email, internet applications, and related technologies. – Ability to work effectively and independently in a remote environment.

Requirements

The following qualifications are particularly desirable:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
  • At least two years of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Previous experience working overnight shifts within an inpatient hospital environment.
  • Hospital pharmacy residency experience.
  • Board certification.
  • Additional pharmacist licenses in states such as Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Delaware, Maine, New Hampshire, or Connecticut.

Work Schedule

This is a part-time remote position.

Available shifts primarily include:

  • Evenings.
  • Overnight shifts.
  • Weekends.
  • On-call coverage.

Employees should generally be available for at least one to two shifts every two weeks.
