The Role

KIRA develops technology products used by millions of customers throughout Southeast Asia. As our products, infrastructure, and user base continue to grow, we are looking for experienced technical leaders capable of solving complex engineering challenges and strengthening engineering standards across the organization.

As an Engineering Lead, you will take ownership of the technical direction and delivery of major products and systems.

This is a highly hands-on position. You will contribute directly to system design, software development, architecture, troubleshooting, and the delivery of critical engineering initiatives from concept through production.

What You’ll Own

• Lead the technical design and execution of major products, systems, and engineering initiatives.
• Design reliable and scalable solutions across backend systems, frontend applications, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
• Work directly alongside engineers through coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging, and production troubleshooting.
• Guide architectural decisions while balancing scalability, performance, reliability, development speed, cost, and long-term maintainability.
• Translate complex or loosely defined product challenges into practical technical solutions and execution plans.
• Improve engineering standards across system architecture, testing, security, observability, and software development practices.
• Lead technically important projects while mentoring and supporting engineers across multiple teams.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience developing and delivering production-grade systems.
• Strong expertise in one or more areas such as backend development, frontend engineering, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent system design and architecture skills, particularly for complex or large-scale applications.
• Strong programming skills with a willingness to remain actively involved in development.
• Proven experience technically leading significant engineering projects from initial design through production deployment.
• Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, influence engineering decisions, and resolve challenging production issues.

Nice to Have

• Experience scaling engineering teams, technical systems, or development processes during periods of significant growth.
• Experience working across multiple products, markets, regions, or countries.
