Koniag Data Solutions (KDS), a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Graphic Designer to support KDS and a federal government customer.

This is a remote position, and the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

About the Role

The Graphic Designer will support a federal cybersecurity awareness and training program by developing engaging visual communications for digital and print channels.

Working closely with technical writers, project coordinators, program stakeholders, and other team members, you will transform campaign messaging and behavioral objectives into clear and compelling visual content.

Projects may include campaign graphics, posters, infographics, digital signage, intranet graphics, employee engagement materials, training assets, and other communications.

All materials must follow established branding guidelines and meet applicable federal accessibility requirements, including Section 508 standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create visual communication materials for monthly cybersecurity awareness campaigns, including graphics, infographics, posters, digital signage, kiosk assets, and QR code-enabled materials.
  • Translate cybersecurity campaign themes and behavioral objectives into clear, engaging, and accessible visual content.
  • Develop intranet homepage graphics, tile cards, and other digital assets for agency intranet and cybersecurity program pages.
  • Produce coordinated graphics for campaign emails, videos, knowledge checks, polls, and other communications to maintain a consistent visual identity.
  • Design infographics and posters explaining cybersecurity concepts such as insider threat indicators, reporting procedures, and recommended employee actions.
  • Develop graphics for cybersecurity training, employee engagement, recognition initiatives, events, and other program activities.
  • Review and revise creative materials based on feedback from stakeholders, subject-matter experts, program managers, and accessibility reviewers.
  • Incorporate accessibility feedback and ensure final visual materials comply with Section 508 requirements before publication.
  • Collaborate with studio and video production teams when visual assets are required for campaign videos.
  • Maintain organized, version-controlled design files and asset libraries to simplify revisions, content management, and future reuse.
  • Create additional campaign, event, recognition, and training materials as required throughout the program year.
  • Coordinate with project coordinators and technical writers to ensure creative assets are delivered according to established campaign schedules.

Required Education & Experience

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, Fine Arts, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.

Applicants should also have:

  • At least 2 years of professional graphic design or visual communications experience.
  • Experience creating materials for both digital and print applications.
  • A professional portfolio demonstrating graphic design abilities, including digital graphics, print materials, and/or infographics.

Preferred Experience

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • 3+ years of professional graphic design or visual communications experience.
  • Experience supporting communications, marketing, awareness, or training initiatives.
  • Previous experience working in a federal government or government contracting environment.
  • Experience producing accessible materials that comply with Section 508 or WCAG standards.

Required Skills

The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency with professional graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, or comparable tools.

Additional competencies include:

  • Strong knowledge of typography, layout, color theory, composition, and visual hierarchy.
  • Ability to produce graphics, infographics, posters, digital signage, web graphics, and other creative assets.
  • Ability to transform written messages and campaign objectives into visually compelling designs.
  • Understanding of accessibility principles, including readable typography, appropriate color contrast, and preparation for alternative text.
  • Ability to incorporate stakeholder feedback through multiple revision cycles while maintaining quality and visual consistency.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with writers, coordinators, subject-matter experts, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to explain design concepts and creative decisions to non-design professionals.

Security Requirement

Candidates must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Additional Preferred Skills

Additional qualifications that may be beneficial include:

  • Experience creating graphics for cybersecurity awareness, public health, workplace safety, or other behavior-change campaigns.
  • Familiarity with federal branding standards, government communications guidelines, and plain-language principles.
  • Experience creating assets for Microsoft SharePoint, intranet platforms, or digital signage systems.
  • Knowledge of motion graphics, animation, or video production tools such as Adobe After Effects or Premiere Pro.
  • Experience meeting WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 accessibility standards.
  • Understanding of print production and preparing print-ready artwork.
  • Previous involvement with federal IT, communications, awareness, or training programs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, particularly PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Relevant training or certifications in graphic design, UX, accessibility, or visual communications, such as Adobe Certified Professional or the Google UX Design Certificate.
