Graphic Designer
What began seven years ago as an ambitious idea has grown into Germany’s market leader for graduation yearbooks.
Today, more than two-thirds of graduating classes across Germany use the nuggit app to create personalized yearbooks and graduation apparel, helping students preserve memories from an important chapter of their lives.
Nuggit’s mission is to combine digital innovation with personal customer service, becoming a trusted partner for students as they manage one of their first major collaborative projects.
The company continuously challenges established approaches and develops new, creative solutions to improve the experience for students.
Despite its significant reach, nuggit operates with a relatively small team. As a Graphic Designer (m/f/d), you will take considerable ownership of the company’s day-to-day creative output, including print products, apparel designs, templates, and other visual assets.
You’ll have the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work while enjoying considerable creative responsibility and independence.
About the Role
As a Graphic Designer at nuggit, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining visual materials across several areas of the business.
Because the design team operates with short communication channels and significant individual ownership, you should be comfortable organizing your workload, setting priorities, and completing projects independently.
For specialized projects, nuggit may also collaborate with external creative professionals and experts.
Key Responsibilities
Print Design
Create and develop graduation yearbooks used by students at schools throughout Germany.
With more than two-thirds of German graduating classes using nuggit’s services, your work will directly contribute to maintaining the company’s design and production standards.
Apparel & Textile Design
Help shape nuggit’s expanding graduation apparel business.
You will create collections, graphics, prints, and visual concepts for products such as hoodies and T-shirts, influencing how the nuggit brand appears across physical merchandise.
Templates & Design Systems
Develop and improve the templates used by tens of thousands of students to create their own designs through the nuggit application.
Templates should be visually appealing, well structured, easy to use, and technically prepared for reliable production.
Product Design Collaboration
Work closely with the Product team to improve the application’s layout and customization capabilities.
You will contribute a designer’s perspective to the parts of the platform where students directly create and personalize their products.
International Expansion
Support nuggit’s preparations for expansion beyond Germany.
You will help develop layouts and visual systems that can be adapted effectively for customers in additional international markets.
How the Team Works
Figma-Based Design Workflow
Figma is a central part of nuggit’s design process.
The company uses its own structured internal Figma setup, and you will receive guidance on how to work within this system.
Designers who value organized files, reusable components, and efficient workflows rather than rebuilding everything from scratch should feel comfortable with this approach.
AI-Enhanced Design
Nuggit actively incorporates Artificial Intelligence into its creative workflows.
AI is used to support areas such as:
- Creative ideation.
- Design variations.
- Exploration of visual concepts.
- Automation of repetitive design tasks.
You don’t need to be an advanced prompt engineer, but you should be interested in experimenting with AI and discovering how it can improve your creative process.
Independent Working Style
Initiative and personal responsibility are important parts of the company’s culture.
You will receive objectives and the necessary context, but you will generally be expected to determine the most effective way to accomplish them.
Rather than relying on constant task assignments or supervision, you should be comfortable managing your priorities and taking ownership of your work.
Hybrid Working
Nuggit operates a genuinely flexible hybrid working model.
The company’s new office is located at Mindspace, Uhlandstraße 32 in Berlin, close to Kurfürstendamm and public transportation.
Employees can also temporarily use other Mindspace coworking locations.
Home-office and mobile working arrangements are available, provided responsibilities and expected results are delivered effectively.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have previous professional experience working as a Graphic Designer.
Nuggit places greater emphasis on the quality of your work, skills, and portfolio than on an exact number of years of experience.
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Professional experience in graphic design.
- Strong practical knowledge of Figma.
- Ability to maintain organized design files that other team members can easily understand and use.
- Good understanding of print production and prepress processes.
- Interest in incorporating AI tools into creative and design workflows.
- Ability to independently organize workloads and establish priorities.
- Confidence working without a traditional design hierarchy.
- Ability to consistently deliver quality work during busy periods.
- Creative, critical, and solution-oriented thinking.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to collaborate closely with other departments.
Experience designing for textiles or apparel is beneficial but not mandatory.
Language Requirements
Fluent German is required for this position because nuggit's primary audience and a significant portion of its creative materials are German-speaking.
Good English-language skills are considered an advantage.
