About the Role
Hostaway is looking for an experienced Senior Product Designer to take end-to-end ownership of its mobile experience across iOS and Android.
The mobile platform plays an important role in the daily operations of property managers, vacation rental hosts, and their guests. Users rely on it to manage bookings, communicate with guests, resolve issues, and oversee their property portfolios while on the move.
In this position, you’ll manage the complete mobile design lifecycle—from strategic discovery and research through prototyping, polished native interfaces, and implementation support.
You’ll use customer insights, product data, and AI-assisted design processes to develop mobile-first experiences that improve adoption, retention, usability, and business growth.
This is a senior individual-contributor position rather than a traditional people-management role. You’ll have significant ownership over important mobile initiatives, influence product strategy, establish design standards, and remain closely involved in hands-on design work.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the complete product-design process for Hostaway’s iOS and Android applications, from discovery through final UI and implementation.
- Develop intuitive mobile experiences for property managers, vacation rental hosts, and their guests.
- Use AI-assisted design workflows to accelerate research synthesis, concept exploration, prototyping, and validation.
- Apply strong product-design judgment when deciding where and how AI should be incorporated into the design process.
- Translate customer research, behavioral data, and business requirements into effective mobile experiences.
- Design experiences that contribute measurably to product adoption, customer retention, and business growth.
- Improve critical mobile journeys for customers managing their businesses while away from their desks.
- Develop and evolve Hostaway’s mobile design system, creating scalable and consistent experiences across its applications.
- Maintain high standards for usability, accessibility, interaction design, and overall visual quality.
- Identify new product opportunities through customer research, product data, and market insights.
- Help shape Hostaway’s mobile product strategy and identify high-impact opportunities for the product roadmap.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers throughout development and implementation.
- Represent customer needs and advocate for user-centered decisions when determining what Hostaway builds next.
Requirements
Candidates should have:
- 7+ years of experience designing sophisticated digital products, preferably within SaaS or similar technology environments.
- A strong professional portfolio demonstrating successfully launched native iOS and Android products.
- Advanced expertise in mobile UX/UI design, interaction design, information architecture, accessibility, and platform-specific design patterns.
- Strong interactive prototyping capabilities.
- Experience working with modern, code-oriented design workflows. Hostaway increasingly uses Claude Code, with code serving as the primary source of truth rather than relying heavily on traditional Figma workflows.
- Demonstrated experience incorporating AI tools into the product-design process, including research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, and validation.
- The judgment to determine when AI improves a workflow and when traditional design methods are more appropriate.
- Advanced knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative user-research methods.
- Strong ability to understand customer problems and translate those insights into practical product solutions.
- Proven experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams.
- Ability to influence product decisions and achieve results without requiring formal managerial authority.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently manage complex design initiatives.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing polished, high-quality digital experiences.
