Head of Internal Control at a Major Manufacturing Company

Sales Force Consulting is recruiting on behalf of its client, a major manufacturer of plastic coolers and food flasks.

The company operates a large manufacturing facility headquartered in Onitsha, Anambra State, with depots and an extensive dealer network across Nigeria and other parts of West Africa.

The organization has a workforce of more than 1,000 employees.

The company is currently seeking an experienced and highly competent professional to fill the position of Head, Internal Control.

Job Summary

The Head, Internal Control will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong internal control environment across the organization.

The successful candidate will develop appropriate control policies and procedures, oversee their implementation, monitor compliance, and ensure consistency in internal control practices across the company’s business operations.

The role requires an experienced professional who can identify operational and financial risks, strengthen existing control systems, and work closely with management and auditors to address identified deficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide timely reports on the effectiveness of the company’s internal control framework and highlight identified control deficiencies.
• Develop and implement action plans to address internal control weaknesses and monitor progress until issues are resolved.
• Work closely with internal and external auditors to ensure that relevant audit findings are properly addressed and resolved.
• Identify, assess, and manage operational and financial risks and translate identified risks into meaningful impact analyses.
• Develop, review, and implement internal control policies and procedures.
• Promote standardisation and consistency across the company’s business processes and internal control systems.
• Monitor compliance with established policies, procedures, and control frameworks.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a B.Sc. or HND in Accounting.

Professional certification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) will be an added advantage.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant practical experience, with substantial experience gained within manufacturing companies.
