House Help (With Cooking Experience)
We are seeking a responsible, trustworthy, and experienced Housekeeper/Cook to provide reliable household support and help maintain a clean, organized, hygienic, and comfortable home environment.
The ideal candidate should take pride in keeping a home well maintained while also being confident in preparing delicious and nutritious meals.
This position is suitable for someone who is hardworking, respectful, organized, and able to manage daily household responsibilities with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness, handle household items with care, and respect the privacy and confidentiality of the household at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping
The Housekeeper/Cook will be responsible for the general cleaning and maintenance of the home, including bedrooms, bathrooms, the kitchen, living areas, and other household spaces.
Daily duties will include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning surfaces, and ensuring that frequently used areas remain neat and hygienic.
The successful candidate will also be expected to keep household items properly arranged, maintain an organized environment, dispose of waste appropriately, and ensure that bathrooms and kitchen areas are cleaned to a high standard.
Part of the role will involve monitoring cleaning materials and other basic household supplies and informing the appropriate person when items need to be replenished.
The candidate should be careful when handling furniture, appliances, decorations, and other household belongings.
Cooking and Kitchen Responsibilities
The role also involves preparing tasty, nutritious, and well-presented meals for the household.
The successful candidate should be comfortable preparing a variety of local and continental dishes and should be able to follow instructions regarding meal preferences and preparation.
Responsibilities may include planning meals, preparing grocery lists, assisting with grocery shopping when required, and ensuring that necessary food items and ingredients are available.
The candidate will be responsible for maintaining excellent kitchen hygiene, including keeping cooking surfaces, utensils, appliances, and food preparation areas clean and organized.
Food should be stored correctly to maintain freshness and reduce unnecessary waste.
Where required, the Housekeeper/Cook should also be able to adjust meal preparation to accommodate specific dietary requirements, preferences, or instructions from members of the household.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should possess a minimum of SSCE or an equivalent qualification and have at least 2–3 years of proven experience working as a housekeeper, domestic assistant, or in a similar position involving both housekeeping and cooking responsibilities.
The ideal candidate should have good knowledge of household cleaning practices, hygiene standards, and proper food handling.
Strong cooking skills and experience preparing both Nigerian and continental meals will be important for this position.
The successful candidate must be honest, dependable, respectful, and trustworthy. Because the role involves working within a private home, the ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of household members is essential.
Applicants should also be organized, attentive to detail, punctual, and capable of completing assigned responsibilities without constant supervision.
A positive attitude, good communication skills, and willingness to follow household routines and instructions are also important.
Work Location
This is an in-person/on-site position, and the successful candidate will be expected to carry out their duties at the employer’s residence.
