Golborn Services Limited is seeking an experienced and highly capable Human Resources Manager to lead its people operations and support continued organisational growth.
About the Role
The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for developing and managing the company’s HR strategy, policies, systems, and day-to-day people operations.
This is a hands-on management position for a proactive, commercially aware, and results-oriented HR professional who can combine strategic planning with practical execution.
The successful candidate will oversee recruitment, performance management, employee relations, organisational development, learning and development, compensation and benefits, HR administration, and regulatory compliance.
The company is particularly interested in candidates who have experience developing or strengthening HR functions within growing technology companies, consulting firms, professional services organizations, or other fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy and Organizational Development
Develop and implement an HR strategy that supports the company’s overall business objectives and expansion plans.
Establish comprehensive HR policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and operational guidelines while supporting organisational design, workforce planning, and appropriate reporting structures.
The HR Manager will collaborate with departmental heads to identify staffing requirements, competency gaps, and future workforce needs.
The role will also involve preparing annual HR operational plans and budgets while promoting a performance-driven workplace culture built around accountability, collaboration, and professional excellence.
The successful candidate will advise management on organizational development, workforce effectiveness, and people-related business risks.
Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning
Lead the complete recruitment process for technical, commercial, administrative, and executive positions.
Responsibilities will include developing job descriptions and candidate profiles, preparing recruitment plans, sourcing and screening candidates, coordinating interviews and assessments, conducting reference checks, and supporting final hiring decisions.
The HR Manager will establish structured and merit-based recruitment procedures, manage employment offers and contracts, coordinate onboarding and probation processes, and develop talent pipelines for critical positions.
The role will also monitor recruitment performance, hiring costs, succession requirements, and changing workforce needs.
Performance Management
Design and implement a company-wide performance management framework aligned with organizational goals.
Work closely with departmental heads to establish measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), individual objectives, and appropriate evaluation standards.
Coordinate probation reviews, quarterly performance evaluations, and annual appraisals while ensuring reviews are properly documented and completed on schedule.
The HR Manager will also support managers in addressing performance gaps, developing Performance Improvement Plans where necessary, recognising high-performing employees, and identifying opportunities for professional development.
Learning, Development and Employee Engagement
Conduct periodic training needs assessments and develop annual learning and development plans that reflect departmental requirements and organisational priorities.
Coordinate internal and external training programmes, professional certifications, leadership development initiatives, and employee career-development plans.
The role will also involve developing employee engagement and retention initiatives and supporting a positive workplace culture that encourages innovation, teamwork, accountability, and continuous professional growth.
Training effectiveness and the impact of learning investments should be regularly assessed.
Compensation, Benefits and HR Administration
Manage employee compensation, allowances, benefits, and related HR administration in accordance with approved company policies.
Coordinate payroll information and verification with the Finance team, administer employee health insurance and leave, and maintain accurate and confidential personnel records.
The HR Manager will support salary reviews, compensation benchmarking, and the development of appropriate salary structures.
The position will also oversee employee confirmations, promotions, transfers, and separation processes while preparing regular HR reports for management.
Employee Relations and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure that the company’s HR practices comply with applicable Nigerian employment laws and regulatory requirements.
Develop appropriate disciplinary, grievance, and dispute-resolution procedures and advise management on employee relations, workplace conduct, and employment-related risks.
The role will also coordinate employee welfare and workplace health and safety initiatives while ensuring employment contracts, HR policies, and personnel documentation are properly maintained and periodically reviewed.
All employee information must be handled with appropriate confidentiality and professionalism.
HR Technology and Process Improvement
Evaluate, recommend, and implement appropriate Human Resources Management Systems and digital tools.
The HR Manager will help digitise and streamline recruitment, onboarding, leave administration, performance management, and other HR processes.
Develop HR dashboards and people analytics that provide management with useful workforce insights.
Identify opportunities to automate repetitive HR activities, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen HR data management, reporting, and access-control procedures.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this position will involve establishing scalable and effective HR policies, systems, and procedures while ensuring the company can attract and onboard qualified professionals within agreed recruitment timelines.
The successful candidate should be able to implement a measurable company-wide performance management system, ensure timely probation and performance reviews, maintain accurate employee records, improve employee engagement and retention, and strengthen overall HR operational efficiency.
Management should also receive reliable HR data and actionable workforce insights that support informed business decisions.
Requirements
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology, or another relevant discipline.
Applicants must have at least five years of progressive professional HR experience, including responsibility for managing core HR functions.
Professional certification or membership with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) or another recognized professional body is required.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, HR operations, and the development and implementation of HR policies, systems, and procedures.
Strong knowledge of Nigerian employment legislation and relevant regulatory requirements is essential.
Applicants should also demonstrate the ability to collaborate with departmental heads in establishing KPIs and managing employee performance.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills are required, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with HR information systems.
Candidates must be capable of handling confidential employee and organizational information with discretion and professionalism.
Desirable Qualifications
Additional consideration may be given to candidates with a postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Experience working within a technology company, professional services firm, consulting organization, or rapidly growing business will be advantageous.
Experience establishing or restructuring an HR department, implementing HR management systems and performance frameworks, or working with organizational design, change management, and compensation structures will also be beneficial.
Experience developing employee engagement, talent retention, and leadership-development programmes is an added advantage.
