About the Role

OpenAI is recruiting professionals across multiple disciplines to help design, develop, expand, and manage OpenAI compute infrastructure.

Depending on your experience and expertise, your responsibilities may involve distributed systems, machine learning infrastructure, hardware engineering, manufacturing, supply chain management, data center development, or the physical engineering systems needed to deploy large-scale computing capacity.

You will collaborate with specialists across research, engineering, hardware, operations, and infrastructure to address complex challenges with significant impact.

Your work may involve strengthening system reliability, accelerating infrastructure deployment, improving operational performance, developing new technical solutions, or taking innovative computing platforms and facilities from initial planning to full production.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, expand, and maintain OpenAI’s global computing infrastructure.
• Address complex technical and operational challenges involving software, hardware, manufacturing, supply chains, and data center systems.
• Enhance the reliability, performance, efficiency, and scalability of essential infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy additional computing capacity efficiently and reliably.
• Identify technical, operational, and physical infrastructure bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.
• Develop tools, processes, systems, and infrastructure that improve large-scale operations.
• Contribute to the long-term design, development, and operational improvement of OpenAI’s global compute network.

• Professional experience developing, expanding, or managing complex technical systems.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Background in AI infrastructure, high-performance computing, distributed systems, GPU clusters, or large-scale cloud platforms.
• Experience with hardware engineering, manufacturing, supply chain operations, data center development, or major infrastructure projects.
• Specialized knowledge in civil, controls, mechanical, electrical, thermal, networking, hardware, power, or facilities engineering.
• Experience taking new technologies, data centers, manufacturing facilities, or complex technical systems from concept through production.
• Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced environments that require both deep technical expertise and rapid execution.
