About the Role
Remote is looking for a Payroll Specialist Lead to join its Global Payroll Operations Team.
In this position, you will play an important role in managing payroll operations for assigned markets while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. You will also collaborate with teams across Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product, and Engineering while supporting and mentoring other payroll specialists.
Key Responsibilities
As a Payroll Specialist Lead, you will:
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for payroll operations within the assigned country or market.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders across Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product, and Engineering.
- Manage the complete payroll process, including statutory filings, exceptions, approvals, payments, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain high standards of payroll data accuracy, integrity, and quality.
- Prepare and manage payroll journals and reconciliations.
- Monitor and work toward established KPIs and SLAs.
- Identify opportunities to improve and streamline payroll processes.
- Mentor and provide support to payroll specialists.
- Provide operational coverage for regional managers when required

Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- Experience managing end-to-end payroll, either internally or through a payroll service provider.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to succeed in a fast-moving and internationally distributed workplace.
- A strong interest in improving productivity and finding faster, more efficient ways of working.
- An understanding of asynchronous working practices.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Previous remote-work experience is beneficial but not required.
