Senior Transmission Line Engineer (Part-time)
Leidos is looking for a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join its Power Delivery team on a part-time basis of 29 hours or less per week. This remote position offers an opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and technical professionals on complex electric transmission projects serving major utility organizations across the United States. The successful candidate will contribute to the engineering and design of high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) transmission systems, including both overhead and underground infrastructure. The role involves applying established engineering standards and technical practices to projects involving system upgrades, voltage conversions, capacity expansion, and replacement of aging infrastructure. You will also support engineering analyses, project planning, procurement activities, construction documentation, specifications, bidding materials, and other technical deliverables. The position requires regular collaboration with Leidos engineering teams as well as clients, planners, environmental specialists, permitting teams, and construction personnel. Work arrangement: 100% remoteLocation requirement: Candidates must reside in the United StatesSchedule: Part-time, 29 hours or less per week Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will: – Engineer and support the design of overhead and underground electric transmission systems. – Work on HV and EHV transmission line projects for major utility clients. – Apply applicable requirements and engineering standards, including NESC, ASCE, ACI, and related codes. – Review complete transmission line design packages, including PLS-CADD models, foundations, materials, plan and profile drawings, and construction documentation. – Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and other technical evaluations. – Assist with Owner’s Engineering (OE) responsibilities where required. – Develop technical specifications, bidding documents, procurement materials, and construction packages. – Help establish project scopes, budgets, schedules, and proposals. – Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams. – Communicate effectively with clients and other project stakeholders. – Support projects from initial planning through design and construction. – Work independently while also contributing effectively within a larger engineering team. – Travel periodically or work from a client office when project requirements call for it. Required Qualifications Applicants should have: – A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field. – At least 4 years of relevant experience designing electric utility transmission systems. – Experience reviewing complete transmission line design packages. – Working knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE requirements. – Familiarity with construction specifications, procurement procedures, project schedules, and construction work packages. – Experience developing project scopes, budgets, and proposals. – Strong written and verbal communication skills. – The ability to collaborate effectively while also handling assignments independently. Software & Technical Experience Experience with the following tools is expected or beneficial: Required/Relevant: – PLS-CADD – PLS-POLE – LPILE or FAD tools – Microsoft Office Preferred: – PLS-TOWER – Bentley MicroStation – Bentley ProjectWise – Mathcad – Autodesk AutoCAD – Construction management and field support Preferred Qualifications Candidates may receive additional consideration for: – EIT certification. – FE certification. – Professional Engineer (PE) license. – Experience providing construction management or construction support. – Experience working directly with utility clients and multidisciplinary project teams.

- PLS-CADD
- PLS-POLE
- LPILE or FAD tools
- Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
Additional consideration may be given to candidates who have:
- EIT, FE, or Professional Engineer (PE) certification or licensing.
- Experience using PLS-TOWER.
- Experience with Bentley MicroStation.
- Familiarity with Bentley ProjectWise.
- Experience using Mathcad.
- Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD.
- Background in construction management and construction support.
