About the Role
As a Specialty Representative, you will be responsible for managing an assigned territory and working closely with healthcare providers to support AbbVie’s migraine portfolio. The position combines pharmaceutical sales, account management, market intelligence, and relationship building.
The successful candidate will develop and execute territory plans designed to achieve sales targets, brand objectives, and key performance indicators. You will also need to understand customer needs, competitive activity, market conditions, and the broader healthcare environment to identify opportunities and improve territory performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver against sales targets, brand KPIs, financial goals, and marketing objectives.
- Develop effective pre-call plans and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with healthcare professionals and key accounts.
- Identify customer needs, concerns, and expectations and adapt your sales approach accordingly.
- Develop and execute territory call plans to improve customer coverage, frequency, access, and sales opportunities.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the local market, competitors, accounts, disease states, products, and relevant clinical information.
- Share market intelligence with sales managers, brand teams, and other internal stakeholders.
- Communicate AbbVie’s value proposition effectively to healthcare providers.
- Develop relationships with relevant disease-state experts, speakers, and advocates to support brand performance.
Qualifications
AbbVie prefers candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, business, or a related discipline, although relevant equivalent industry experience may also be considered.
Candidates relying on equivalent experience in place of a bachelor’s degree should generally have at least five years of relevant industry experience, with three or more years within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or science industry preferred. A high school diploma or GED is required in this pathway.
Applicants should also demonstrate strong presentation and leadership abilities, business acumen, strategic and critical thinking skills, and the ability to adjust their selling approach based on different customer needs and behaviors.
Previous pharmaceutical sales experience—particularly physician or account-based selling, training, managed healthcare, marketing, or experience within the relevant therapeutic area—is preferred.
Additional Requirements
The position requires candidates to satisfy applicable healthcare industry representative credentialing requirements necessary to access healthcare facilities within the assigned territory.
A valid driver’s license is also required, along with the ability to meet AbbVie’s safe-driving requirements and pass applicable pre-employment screening.
