About the Role

G-P is seeking an experienced Staff AI Cloud Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership across its engineering organization.

This is not a traditional architecture position focused primarily on documentation, diagrams, or technical approvals. Instead, the successful candidate will remain actively involved in building and shipping production systems while helping engineering teams make stronger architectural and technical decisions.

You will collaborate closely with Engineering Managers, senior engineers, and technical leads to improve software architecture, infrastructure, development practices, CI/CD, reliability, security, observability, and overall engineering quality.

The position also involves significant work across Artificial Intelligence, cloud infrastructure, backend systems, distributed architectures, and full-stack applications.

Key Responsibilities

As a Staff AI Cloud Engineer, you will:

• Define and continuously improve engineering architecture and technical practices across multiple teams.
• Collaborate with Engineering Managers and technical leads on complex system-design decisions.
• Lead technical designs, architecture reviews, RFCs, and critical code reviews.
• Design, build, and deploy production systems spanning AI, backend development, cloud infrastructure, and full-stack applications.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability, reliability, security, and developer experience.
• Develop reusable platforms, libraries, reference implementations, and engineering frameworks.
• Help design and operate production-grade AI systems.
• Work with model integration, orchestration, retrieval, evaluation, inference, and monitoring technologies.
• Contribute directly to cloud infrastructure development and operations.
• Investigate and resolve difficult production and infrastructure issues.
• Mentor engineers and help strengthen technical standards throughout the organization.
• Ensure newly introduced engineering practices continue delivering measurable improvements over time.

Required Experience & Qualifications

This is a highly senior technical position intended for candidates with extensive engineering and architecture experience.

G-P is looking for candidates with:

• 15+ years of architecture experience.
• Experience working as a Founding Engineer and helping startups scale.
• Demonstrated ability to influence engineering teams without depending on formal management authority.
• Strong independence, resourcefulness, and ownership.
• Extensive experience designing, developing, deploying, and operating production software systems.
• Deep expertise in AI systems, backend or distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and architecture.
• Practical understanding of modern Artificial Intelligence technologies.
• Experience with foundation models, inference, retrieval, orchestration, evaluation, latency optimization, and AI-related cost management.
• Strong understanding of full-stack software development.
• Professional experience with technologies such as Python, Go, TypeScript, and Kubernetes.
• Experience working with major cloud platforms.

Compensation

The advertised annual base salary range is:

$180,000–$225,000 USD per year

The position also includes variable compensation.

Final compensation may depend on factors including professional experience, technical expertise, qualifications, education, and geographic location.

For eligible full-time non-sales employees, additional compensation may include an annual performance-related bonus.
