What You’ll Do

As a Virtual English/Language Arts Teacher, you will serve as a key point of connection and support for students, delivering engaging instruction through live online classroom sessions.

You will create meaningful learning experiences by interacting with students in real time, adapting lessons to individual needs, and establishing a supportive virtual classroom where every learner feels encouraged, included, and motivated to achieve their goals.

Live, synchronous, on-camera teaching is the primary responsibility of this position. Students, families, and partner schools rely on consistent, high-quality instruction throughout every scheduled school day.

This opportunity is ideal for educators who are comfortable working in a technology-driven environment and understand the importance of interactive, real-time teaching in achieving positive learning outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conduct live, on-camera virtual lessons for at least five (5) hours daily on every scheduled instructional day, maintaining an engaging, organized, and interactive classroom that encourages student participation and academic progress. Consistent live instruction is an essential requirement of this position.
• Analyze student performance data to identify academic strengths and areas requiring improvement, then customize teaching strategies to address individual learning needs.
• Deliver constructive and timely feedback on assignments while maintaining accurate academic records to keep students and their families updated on progress.
• Establish positive relationships with students and families through consistent, proactive, and professional communication that promotes trust, collaboration, and accountability.
• Work closely with partner schools and Edmentum team members to provide students with reliable, coordinated, and high-quality educational support.

Who You Are

• You possess a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related discipline, along with an active state teaching license endorsed in English/Language Arts for grades 6–12. Teaching licensure in Indiana and/or Minnesota is preferred.
• You have previous teaching experience in traditional classrooms, virtual learning environments, or both, and understand the requirements of delivering effective online instruction.
• You are comfortable and confident teaching on camera for five (5) or more consecutive hours each instructional day while maintaining student engagement and meaningful interaction.
• You have practical experience using digital learning platforms, virtual classroom technologies, and standard workplace productivity applications.
• You can interpret student performance information and apply data-driven strategies to improve instructional delivery and learning outcomes.
• You demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and can communicate effectively with students, parents, families, and professional colleagues.
• You are organized, dependable, and capable of independently managing a full student caseload while working remotely.
• You value continuous professional development, maintain your teaching credentials, and stay informed about K–12 curriculum standards, emerging educational technologies, and effective teaching practices.
• You demonstrate professionalism, compassion, integrity, and a strong commitment to helping every student reach their full academic potential.
• You are adaptable and willing to undertake additional responsibilities as organizational priorities and business requirements evolve.
