Web Developer at Chimes

Chimes is seeking a skilled Web Developer to design, develop, maintain, and deploy web-based solutions that support essential, mission-critical operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in web infrastructure, server administration, cybersecurity, and website maintenance.

Location: Remote – United States

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure, manage, and maintain web, file, and email servers, including server hardware, software, operating systems, and secure directory structures.
• Monitor website infrastructure, security notifications, system logs, and performance indicators. Identify, investigate, and resolve server, application, integration, and availability problems.
• Maintain strong security standards by implementing access controls, firewalls, encryption, software updates, and security patches. Escalate suspected cyberattacks, unauthorized access, and data breaches to the appropriate teams.
• Develop, document, and routinely test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans. Conduct scheduled and post-deployment testing to ensure system integration, performance, security, and usability.
• Maintain website functionality by reviewing content and links, implementing updates, documenting changes, and establishing consistent maintenance procedures and content standards.
• Monitor website traffic and performance data, identify areas for improvement, and recommend appropriate technical enhancements.
• Work closely with developers and other departments to address usability and compatibility challenges, provide technical support and training, and keep users informed about service disruptions, resolutions, and updates.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Relevant technical certifications are an added advantage.
• A combination of equivalent education, professional training, and practical experience may be accepted.
• At least three (3) years of relevant technical work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to document technical specifications, system configurations, testing procedures, implementation changes, and results.
• Previous experience working in government, regulated, or security-focused environments is preferred.

Candidates with degrees or certifications in Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Equivalent professional experience and educational backgrounds will also be considered.

Salary and Compensation

This is a fully remote position available to qualified candidates across the United States.

Compensation depends on the employee’s geographic work location, relevant skills, professional experience, and internal pay considerations.

The hourly pay ranges for the different geographic tiers are:

• Tier 1 – Baltimore, Maryland: $49.51–$56.94 per hour
• Tier 2 – Washington, DC and Northern Virginia: $44.42–$51.08 per hour
• Tier 3 – Dallas, Texas: $42.82–$49.24 per hour
• Tier 4 – New Castle, Delaware and Los Angeles, California: $35.59–$44.92 per hour
• Tier 5 – Orlando, Florida: $31.82–$36.59 per hour
